Tragedy Strikes

Last night tragedy struck the sleepy little town of Copper Cliff, where we have many friends.  An arsonist set fire to a town house.  The fire quickly spread to the neighboring townhouses.  By the end of the night, 8 local families were left homeless.  Thankfully no one was lost in the fires.  However, a litter of 5 dobermine puppies could not be rescued.  My heart goes out to all of the families that are suffering through this loss.  I know 1 of the families has 2 young sons, ages 3 and 5 I believe.  Witnesses say the sounds of the 3 yr old crying and asking mommy what is happening to their house will always haunt them.  We live in an amazing community though, and even before the firefighters had left the scene, donations had already started pouring in.  People opened up their homes for all of the families affected by this tragedy!  I think this weekend many of us will be going through our closets, dressers, toyboxes and basements looking for anything that we may be able to donate to these families.  My heart goes out to all of the families and I myself will be doing whatever I can to help.  As I type this, Miles is going through his shoes so he can share with the other little boy.  I love my son.......

Hospital

Wow, very scary.... we had to take our little man to the emerg this weekend.  He had a full blown asthma attack.  Scared the poop right out of us.  He was fine all day, maybe a little congested in his chest at supper time but nothing out of the ordinary.  We put him to bed around 9:00.....around 11:30 we heard him gasping and trying to cry.  I went to check on him and he was sitting up in his bed trying to cry but not able to get any air.  It was so scary seeing his face, seeing in his eyes how scared he was.  I scooped him up and ran back to our room to get his mask and inhaler.......which was missing....  That's when I panicked, where in hell was his inhaler and mask??!!!!  So I'm running around, Miles in my arms gasping for air, looking for the mask....Mike is hollering that he is calling an ambulance....  It was crazy.  It only took a minute or 2 for me to find his mask.....but it felt like forever.  I gave him 2 toots, which he didn't really get because he was fighting the mask.  I sat with him a minute to calm him down and gave him 2 more toots.  After that he was fine, just a really bad croup like cough.  Mike insisted on taking him to the hospital, which was probably best since Miles had never had an actual asthma attach before.  After 4 toots on the inhaler Miles was wired.  We sat in emerg until about 3 am......then we came home.  I'm pretty sure Miles was driving all the sick people nuts he was so wound up!  It was very scary and needless to say we now take Mile's mask and inhaler with us everywhere we go.  The mystery is....What brought on the attack?
