Is it possible that I'm going to post something 2 days in a row??? Yup!! And why you may ask... or may not but I'm telling you anyways! I've found my happy spot! I have discovered that I'm am very content sitting on the back deck in the evening after Miles is in bed. Have my solar lanterns all shining, the candles burning and the cute little solar lights on the umbrella make it feel like my own little resort. Very relaxing. I really love it.
So what to update on tonight........ Past holidays? School trophies? Karate? Soccer? Grace's dance recitals? So many things to choose from, but they each need there own special post. So I will do those one at a time.... later.
Today was a fun day. Miles had karate. He's starting to get stronger and is able to remember more of his kata. There was new equipment today, including a climbing rope. Miles was able to try to climb. He had fun. I love that he's willing to try things like that. We also played some soccer tonight. Practiced booting the ball! LOL! He's getting stronger with that to. It was a hot night so we watered the plants, played with the hose a bit..... dad even got in on the action. All in all an enjoyable day. Ok, time for serious stuff. Going to do an update on some of the missed stuff from that past few years...... wow that sounds horrible.

Summer Vacation 2013!!!
So I know I still have to tell you about summer vacation 2012 and 2011 and 2010 but as I said in my last post, I will be doing a little bit of back peddling to get caught up. So, lets start with where we are now and slowly I will work my way backwards.
Summer Vacation 2013 was a typical tourist vacation. We did the tourist Toronto thing. Kids LOVED it! And I think Mike and I enjoyed it too... ;) I guess I have to give you a little history here...... Since Miles started school we have started a tradition of taking the kids someplace different every year for Canada day. It's our annual family vacation (minus Renee and Michelle), its a celebration for the kids completing another successful year of school and its a big kick off for the summer! So ya, this year it was Toronto. CN Tower, Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto Zoo, Casa Roma, hockey hall of fame, we did it all. And to top it off, a Blue Jays Game!!!! Awesome!
The Zoo was ok. Lots of animals lying around in the dirt, too hot for them to do anything and too hot for us to really enjoy the loooooong day of walking. Some of the animals, like the elephants, made me a little sad. They just didn't look very happy. Honestly, I love seeing all the different animals but I really don't like zoos.
So next we have the CN Tower! I think everyone has to experience the CN Tower at least once. I know it isn't the tallest tower, (Grace gave us the lesson ), but it is an experience, and we have it right here in our back yard (sort of). I remember taking Renee and Michelle up the CN Tower, they were a wee bit older than Grace. It was great then and it was great this time around. I myself was not near as nervous as I was with the girls. Mike on the other hand had a hard time with it. He did good though, put up a good front for the kids. I think if it had been just him and I, he would have backed out. Grace was so excited to go up! She couldn't wait to get up there and lay down on that glass floor. I don't think that kid is scared of much...... except her bike. She took a great picture of the Rogers center, her view from the floor. It was just starting to fill up for the Canada Day match up with the Tigers. Miles was a bit nervous. He did it though! And as soon as Grace and I left him and daddy alone, he was brave enough to take a couple of steps out onto the glass floor! Braver than I am!
I let the kids have a camera for the trip so they could take pictures of the things they found interesting. Grace took pics of EVERY thing she saw! LOL It was cute. I think Mike got a bit annoyed. She did a good job with the pictures though. Some of hers were better than mine. Miles took pictures of..... his feet.....his toy cars.... the barbies head.....he tried to get a pic of the monkeys butt but it didn't turn out. They had a good time with it. I'll have to get a camera bag for next year though because Grace got tired of carrying the camera, can't say that I blame her.
We didn't take in the much of the Toronto Canada day festivities. We did go down to Queens Park, they had stuff going on. I was a bit disappointed. People in Toronto are not near as patriotic and the people in Ottawa (we'll get to that in another post). The crowd was relatively small, mind you I think it was mostly done by the time we got there. I was sad that not many people were wearing the Red and White. I think every little community or neighbourhood around the city had fireworks, the bangs could be heard all over the place. We enjoyed a great dinner with Chris and Melanie and then walked down to their neighbourhood playground for a community fireworks put on by the people that live in the hood ( a recurring theme here....) It was nice and the kids both enjoyed it. Fireworks and playground equipment at 10:30 at night...... for a 6 year old, it doesn't get much better.
And that brings Summer Vacation 2013 to a splashing end. A great time was had by all and the plans for next year are under way! I'm thinking next year needs to be more relax and less hectic. Think Miles and Grace will go for that? We shall see!!
